JOB SUMMARY
The Exploration Manager oversees exploration operations to identify and evaluate potential oil and gas deposits. This position involves managing exploration programs, supervising technical teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to strategic decision-making. The manager coordinates geological and geophysical surveys, interprets seismic data, and assesses the economic feasibility of projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Exploration Planning: Develop and implement exploration strategies, including project evaluations, budgeting, and resource assessments.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise geotechnical personnel and field teams in prospect development, drilling design, stimulation, and site health, safety, and environment (HSE).
  • Data Analysis: Interpret geological and seismic data using specialized software like Geographix mapping and SMT 2D/3D seismic workstations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Project Oversight: Provide oversight for onshore and offshore exploration activities, including construction projects related to exploration.
  • Strategic Input: Participate in lease sales, joint ventures, and acquisition evaluations.
  • Economic Evaluation: Assess the financial viability of exploration projects

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Expertise in exploration programs, project evaluation, reserve/resource assessment, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical processes such as well drilling/design and site HSE management.
  • Strong knowledge of energy law, contracts, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with advanced mapping tools and seismic interpretation software
  • Expertise in exploration programs, project evaluation, reserve/resource assessment, and budgeting.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Energy Management or related discipline.
  • 20 years of experience in oil and gas exploration or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leading exploration teams and managing complex projects.

  • Field work will be outdoors under variable weather conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May require occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Travel is required to office and field locations.
