JOB SUMMARY
The Revenue Accountant will oversee revenue processing for operated and non-operated oil and gas properties. This role involves ensuring accurate revenue distribution, compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing financial insights to support business decisions. Support all aspects of the monthly revenue distribution process and related accounting functions including the booking of all oil, gas, and plant products for operated and non-operated assets, related journal entries, and distribution of royalties to owners
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Process monthly revenue for operated and non-operated properties.
- Record, analyze, and reconcile revenue accruals.
- Validate pricing and volume changes monthly before owner payments.
- Maintain revenue workbooks and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
- Fulfill federal and state tax reporting requirements for assigned properties.
- Ensure payments to royalty owners comply with governing leases.
- Prepare reconciliations for revenue-related accounts (e.g., royalties, taxes).
- Perform month-over-month analysis of revenues.
- Communicate revenue components and their business implications to stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to royalty owner inquiries.
- Coordinate with marketing teams on pricing allocations.
- Work with land departments on ownership and address issues.
- Handle payments and revenue inquiries from royalty owners as needed
- Complete prior period adjustments in a timely manner
- Calculate and submit federal royalties to the ONRR
- Perform and supports the monthly revenue close process and distribution of checks to royalty owners.
- Collaborate with land, marketing, and production groups to ensure revenues are booked accurately and owners are paid correctly.
- Supporting accounting team members as needed
- Special projects to assist the accounting group and company as a whole.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., BOLO) is preferred.
- Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team and a high pace professional work environment
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred); CPA is a plus but not required.
- 10 Years of experience in oil and gas accounting, with at least 5 years focusing on revenue accounting.
