Job Description:
The Dispensing Nurse is responsible for dispensing methadone, used in the treatment of patients with opioid use disorder. This candidate will work with the OTP Practitioner, Medical Director, Program Director, and other OTP staff to assure appropriate care of patients. This position is part-time and will require 12-16hours /week commitment. Candidate must be willing and able to work early morning hours 6:30am-10:30 am and available to work some every other Saturday 6:30am – 10:30am. Additionally, candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
- Employee is expected to perform all duties in accordance with the work schedule. • Sets up for dispensing of medication and dispenses medication. • Monitors medication inventory and reports to Program Director. • Places and receives orders for methadone. • Reconciles inventory of methadone at the conclusion of dosing. • Prints daily reports. • Signs and processes methadone prescription orders. • Enter notes in Methasoft and input flags as per prescribing practitioner orders. • Processes dose changes and input of notes in systems. • Processes phase change requests. • Documents “no-shows” in system. • Coordinates guest medication. • Collect UDS as needed. • Monitors vital signs for dose changes. • Files appropriate paperwork. • Calibrates Methadone pump. • Prints, signs and files monthly medication record.
- At least one (1) year experience as a RN or LPN. • Knowledge and experience of dispensing controlled substance medications to patients in any setting. • CPR certified within 3 months of hire. • Must pass a criminal background check. • Excellent communication skills.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. • Licensed with the state of Iowa as RN or LPN.
