What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian/Janitor position at Prairie School District RE-11J?
SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the Maintenance Director and Maintenance & Grounds Assistant, and within the framework of district policy, the Building & Grounds Custodian will provide custodial and cleaning services to the new and remodeled buildings, building systems and all site and facility amenities. The Custodian will ensure compliance with District policies and all applicable codes related to facilities.
Duties
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in designated areas.
- Maintain floors through buffing and floor care techniques to ensure they are clean and presentable.
- Assist with painting projects as needed to maintain the aesthetic quality of the facilities.
- Carry out custodial tasks in commercial settings, ensuring all areas are well-maintained.
- Respond promptly to cleaning requests from staff or administration to address urgent needs.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Requirements
- Proven experience in custodial or commercial cleaning roles is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods - see expanded detail at PrairieSchool.org.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Excellent time management skills to complete tasks efficiently within designated timeframes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Pay: $20.36 - $24.67 per hour
