Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Director of Admissions, develop, organize and implement recruitment outreach activities. Create and expand the awareness about Prairie State College’s offerings within the community and local high schools. Represents the College at high schools, career fairs, community events, and/or business and industry recruiting events. Provides information, advises and counsels new and prospective students and their families regarding admission to the college and educational options available to them.
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships
Direct reporting relationship to the Director of Admissions.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Provides admission advising to prospective students through individual and group methods.
2. Provides assistance and advice to prospective students regarding the college’s application procedure, testing information, policies, requirements, deadlines, and programs in person, via phone, mail or electronic communication.
3. Performs recruiting, activities including representing the College on and off campus at high schools, college/career programs, community events and special events.
4. Increase presence at local businesses by planning workshops and presentations. Coordinates both on and off campus visits for area businesses and returning adult students.
5. Helps coordinate open houses/information sessions for the College. Assists with the annual appreciation day for high school counselors.
6. Coordinates College tours for prospective students, families, counselors, and community members.
7. Assist Early College Initiative efforts, including, but not limited to, distribution of applications, placement testing, course registration, progress reports, and maintaining a working relationship with high school liaison as well as the high school participants.
8. Develops workshops for Early College Initiative students that increase awareness of Prairie State College programs and highlights the benefits of continuing attendance at Prairie State College post high school.
9. Assists with the College’s recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.
10. Uses the CRM to develop and maintain procedures for communication and recruitment efforts.
11. Refers students as appropriate to faculty, counselors and other College personnel.
12. Develops a working knowledge of College policies, procedures, academic programs and services.
13. Builds and maintains positive relationships with faculty and other College personnel to assist students with academic advising, consultation, referral, and information services.
14. Participates in College cross training activities to develop knowledge of College programs and other functional student affairs areas in order to provide current and comprehensive information to students, staff, and community members.
15. Performs other duties as assigned for the betterment of the College and its students, consistent with the role of this position.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The employee typically works indoors in an environment protected from the weather. With some frequency, travel is required to meet with students/prospective students at a site other than Prairie State College. Physical activities include the ability to carry appropriate recruitment materials sometimes weighing up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Ability to relate well to a broad cross-section of people.
3. Bilingual in Spanish.
4. Ability to provide for personal travel.
5. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with solid proficiency with computer software.
6. Evidence of commitment and ability to work in teams with ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in higher education or a related field.
2. Work experience in a college setting.
3. Experience working in a culturally diverse setting.
Anticipated Work Hours and Days
Employee is subject to a 40-hour variable work schedule, including evening and weekend hours as determined by supervisor. Required overtime and flexible hours are likely to occur during peak recruitment times
Salary
$43,805- $65,708. All candidates are hired at the mid salary range.
