Job Description
The Compliance and Training Coordinator within the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) provides oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with federal guidelines and requirements for land-grant programs and extension services. Under general supervision, this role ensures adherence to USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) policies, coordinates training initiatives, and implements corrective action plans as needed. The role will also assist in drafting procedures and instituting effective compliance frameworks for agricultural extension and outreach programs.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Compliance Program Development & Oversight
- Develops, implements, and monitors compliance programs aligned with USDA NIFA guidelines, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, system policy, university procedure and internal processes.
- Drafts and updates policies, procedures, and corrective action plans to address compliance gaps and mitigate risks.
- Tracks and monitors progress of corrective actions to ensure timely resolution and compliance sustainability. Chairs task committees to identify, strategize, and implement initiatives that enhance access, fairness and compliance across CAFNR projects.
- Ensures compliance considerations are integrated into all faculty, staff, and student activities within the college.
Training & Education
- Designs, develops, and delivers training programs to educate faculty, staff, and administrators on compliance-related responsibilities, policies, and best practices.
- Partners with university and regional leaders to assess training needs and implement standard operating procedures that address areas of risk.
- Collaborates with program leaders, regional specialists, and other extension faculty/staff and support units (e.g., technology, communications) to maintain ongoing education and support in compliance-related areas.
- Coordinates and participates in events related to accessibility, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and promoting access.
Audit & Compliance Monitoring
- Oversees NIFA review and audit processes, including conducting regular internal audits to ensure compliance in mission-critical areas.
- Monitors compliance in key areas, including program accessibility, public notifications, Limited English Proficiency requirements, marketing, website accessibility, program data collection, and administrative/financial practices.
- Coordinates with university offices (e.g., University Compliance, EEO, Research Administration) to ensure timely reporting and adherence to internal and external compliance reviews and requirements.
- Ensures compliance with university and federal document retention policies, maintaining accurate and secure records for compliance-related activities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Establishes and maintains comprehensive records of compliance activities, training programs, audits, and evaluations in a centralized database.

- Analyzes compliance and training data, providing actionable feedback to improve processes and ensure continuous improvement.
- Prepares detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in compliance efforts.

- Participates in college-wide activities, committees, and performs other duties as necessary to support the overall mission and goals of the college.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Four years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to effectively multitask and work cooperatively with cross functional teams.
- Exceptional organizational, presentation, and project management skills.
- Advanced skills with presentation software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and implement corrective action plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional groups.
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex information in both written and verbal formats to a wide range of audiences.
- Expertise in developing and delivering training programs tailored to different learning styles and levels of understanding, ensuring maximum engagement and knowledge retention.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Experience in conflict resolution and facilitating discussions to address challenges and promote shared understanding.
