Job Description
The Research Specialist I will serve as a key contributor to pioneering research in the areas of food product development, preservation, functional food components, and food quality. This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator to design and implement research studies aimed at addressing food quality challenges with direct implications for human health and well-being. The role will also contribute to data analysis and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to generate meaningful, real-world solutions to food-related issues.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Plan and execute current and future research projects in the laboratory in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. Order and maintain necessary materials and supplies for research activities. Prepare samples and conduct experimental procedures related to food quality, safety, and nutrition. Ensure accuracy and consistency in research execution following established protocols.
- Prepare manuscripts and present research findings through peer-reviewed journals, academic conferences, professional workshops, and institutional seminars. Collaborate in the development of grant proposals to secure external funding for ongoing and future research initiatives.
- Collection of data, credibility check of data, compilation and selection of appropriate statistical model in consultation with biostatistician, and statistical analyses.
- Provide training and guidance to graduate and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and experimental design. Oversee student progress and assist with troubleshooting in research execution to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support current research objectives and identify emerging trends. Assist in drafting and editing research proposals and technical reports under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, physiology, food science, molecular biology or related fields is required for this position.
- Four years of related experience.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- PhD in nutrition, physiology, food science, molecular biology or related fields is required for this position.
- Lingual ability and familiarity with writing research proposals.
- Laboratory research experience in nutrition, physiology, food science or molecular biology is required.
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
- Ability to exert heavy force.
- Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends
