Job Description
The Student Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will assist the Career Development Advisor by providing assistance with marketing and daily operations. This position will also receive training in Career Development and Professionalism. This may include training on resumes, cover letters, interviewing tips, and how to network with companies.
Responsibilities:
- Create posters, flyers, and other advertisements
- Answer emails and return phone calls
- Coordinate and schedule meeting times
- Review resumes and cover letters
- Help with setup and hosting of events on campus
- Other duties as required
Required Education and Experience:
- Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
- Must be in academic good standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
- No prior experience necessary
- For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Sales or customer service experience
- Work experience in an office setting
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and phone communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask
Other Requirements:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Engineering, Business, or Education
- Must have a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and improve performance
