Prairie View A&M University
(PVAMU) seeks a creative and experienced, data-driven leader to serve as the Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Effectiveness (VPIRE). This is an elevated role at the University that will provide leadership in areas central to the campus, including, but not limited to, creating a culture of data informed decision-making, working with campus leaders to evaluate and assess program effectiveness, establishing strategies to better understand academic planning needs, and evaluating key performance indicators related to reporting to the system as well as other external partners.

PVAMU is the second-oldest public institution in Texas and a member institution of the Texas A&M University System. Empowered by a shared sense of history and experience, as well as PVAMU’s relentless commitment to providing the highest quality of education, research, and service, its graduates make their mark as scholars and leaders in their fields. Established in 1876 as a land-grant institution, the University enrolls over 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Students from Texas form the majority of the population, followed by students from California. The total student population hails from 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 89 countries. The University has nine colleges and schools, most of which are accredited by professional bodies (ABET, AACSB International, and others), and numerous research centers housed on the main campus. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the VPIRE will build on the University’s capacity in institutional research and assessment and will lead a team that will support the data analytics needs of the Division of Academic Affairs, as well as other divisions across campus. The VPIRE will understand not only the complex reporting environment in which higher education finds itself today but will also have the ability to drive strategic decision-making through data-informed analysis. As such, the VPIRE will have strength in traditional quantitative statistical methods but also value mixed methods approaches, including a range of qualitative methodologies.
Required Education and Experience:
The VPIRE must have a doctoral degree and seven or more years of progressively responsible experience utilizing analytics in higher education or a related sector and experience managing institutional effectiveness through quantitative and qualitative information.
