QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma; Demonstrates aptitude for the work to be performed; Demonstrates positive attitude toward a school environment; Computer skills.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists in processing books and materials according to the Media Director's instructions.
2. Helps maintain library data base and other records.
3. Distributes notices to teachers concerning overdue books and letters to parents for overdue or damaged books under the supervision of the Media Director.
4. Repairs damaged books.
5. Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks.
6. Assists in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
7. Shelves returned materials.
8. Supervises student media aides and assigns various tasks and supervises students as needed.
9. Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
10. Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
11. Maintains inventory and repair records for A/V equipment, under the supervision of the Media Director.
12. Maintains the calendar for the media center and computer lab usage.
13. Assists students in locating research materials in both hard copies and computer searches.
14. Collects and deposits all fine money, lost book fees and other deposits as needed.
15. Ability to assist students and teachers in selection of materials.
16. Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance.
17. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers and maintains a positive
rapport with students and faculty.
18. Maintains confidentiality.
19. Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and assigned duties.
20. Becomes familiar with tech equipment and knows basic operations and troubleshooting
procedures.
21. Facilitates student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
22. Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
23. Performs such other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands:
Ability to bend, stand, squat occasionally.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
Some lifting and moving equipment and materials.
