Overview
- To use leadership, supervisory, teaching, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of the teaching staff.
Qualifications:
- Eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with a building leadership endorsement.
- At least five years of successful experience in public education as a classroom teacher.
- Strong background in instructional and athletic leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Expertise in collaboration with staff members.
- Commitment to enhancing the extracurricular and co-curricular offerings.
- Ability to manage change effectively.
- Record of building strong community- student- and staff relationships.
- After employment, shall reside within 30 miles of the school district.
Reports to Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and/or Superintendent
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Initiates, designs and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
- Keeps the central administration informed of the school's activities and concerns.
- Makes recommendations concerning administration and instruction of the school.
- Administers the school's budgeted allocations.
- Implements the Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.
- Prepares and maintains such reports as may be required.
- Approves the master teaching schedule and any special assignment.
- Develop and supervise faculty and staff members - providing feedback, conducting evaluations, and setting goals with the building principal .
- Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
- Recommends employment or non-renewal of staff to the superintendent or his designee.
- Participates in administrative meetings and such other meetings as are required by the superintendent or his designee.
- Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
- Organizes and administers the public relations program for the school.
- Delegates responsibilities in the areas of student discipline, guidance, special education programs to the assistant principal as needed.

- Support the assistant principal in addressing student behavior issues following the BOE policy.
- Support assistant principal in managing classified staff, Kronos, and making recommendations for classified hiring
- Performs other duties as assigned by superintendent and/or designee.
Supervises
- Staff members designated by the Board or Superintendent.
Physical Requirements
- Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending and reaching: also includes travel.
Evaluation
- Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with negotiated agreement.
Terms of Employment
