What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant - Transitional Class position at Prairie View Elementary?
Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Pay: 11.90 per hour
Paid heath insurance for employee
Employees will be required to pay $12.00 for Tier I or Tier II certificate through OSDE.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must have completed 2 years of post-secondary education (48 hours) OR an Associate's Degree or higher OR have passed the formal State Assessment Test (OGET) OR have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test OR have passed the Workkeys Test.
- Evidence of, or willingness to, progress in instructional training opportunities.
- Such alternative qualifications as the Board finds appropriate and acceptable.
- Substitute teaching or teaching assistance experience preferred
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
Supervises: Helps supervise students
JOB OVERVIEW: To assist the school, under the supervision of the principal, with maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment so students are safe to have the opportunity to succeed academically.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. The paraprofessional will implement activities to reinforce instruction for designated students under the direction and guidance of the certified instructor.
B. The paraprofessional will assist with the implementation and documentation of individualized and group behavioral plans under the direction of the certified instructor.
C. The paraprofessional may assist the instructor with data collection and documentation.
D. The paraprofessional may assist with grading and checking student’s work while under the direction of the certified instructor.
E. The paraprofessional will assist with monitoring students during restroom breaks, breakfast, lunch and physical activity.
F. The paraprofessional will visit classrooms to provide classroom support.
G. Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is generally in a classroom setting.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS: This postion requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects.
EVALUATION: In accordance with Board Policy and appropriate procedural regulations. The Supertintendent or designee will be responsible for completing the evaluation.
SALARY RANGE: Based on the EPS Support Negotiated Contract Scale
BENEFITS: This position includes health insurance for the employee that may be waived for additional salary, if preferred.
