Description
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide competent evaluations, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and case consultations for children and adolescents.
- Demonstrate knowledge regarding common child/adolescent diagnosis and normative developmental stages, delay influences of emotional and biopsychosocial factors on developmental progression, and subsequent needs of children and adolescents to foster psychological, emotional, and behavioral developmental progress.
- Provide individualized treatment interventions needed for identified patients and families.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide accurate diagnostic evaluation of patients (children and adolescents), using DSM-5 criteria.
- Communicate with school administration, teachers, special education staff and other
additional teams on child and adolescent work to collaborate
- Attend administrative, clinical staff, and departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Work cooperatively with other professional staff within the office, in service of the patients.
- Participate in clinical supervision as needed.
- Communicate regularly with referral sources at admission, as needed during therapy, and at termination.
- Work cooperatively with Utilization Review staff and Treatment Team to assure authorization is in place to provide services, and specific services are identified on the active treatment plan.
- Maintain responsibility for organizing a schedule and establishing priorities, according to existing patient and agency needs.
- Insure that medical records are completed, as standards require:
- Evaluations are completed in 48 working hours.
- Progress notes are completed within 48 hours.
- Maintain encounter expectations per schedule
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Master’s degree, with clinical emphasis preferred; QMHP designation required.
- Minimum Experience: Practicum, internship, or other experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a mental health counseling capacity
- Must have good listening skills, verbal skills, and written communication skills
- Must have good diagnostic skills and the ability to observe patient demeanor and non-verbal communication for assessments
- Must maintain Kansas State licensure and appropriate CEs
- Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources, external care providers, and school systems
- Must have credentials, experience, or other data to be privileged to do outpatient admissions, individual therapy, family therapy, and collateral consultations
- Must have solid understanding of current managed care practices and procedures
- Must have excellent problem-solving/conflict resolution skills
- Must be able to schedule flexibility to meet the needs of the program/agency
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and be insurable through Prairie View insurance company
- Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
- Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children
