The Agronomy Operations Student Intern ship will assist in the daily operations of an agronomy department, gaining hands-on experience in crop production, soil management, and field operations. The intern will work closely with agronomists and operations teams to support efficient and sustainable farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in scouting crops to identify pest , disease, and weed issues and monitor overall crop health and growth patterns.
Collect soil and plant tissue samples for analysis, assisting in nutrient management and crop input recommendations.
Support the preparation and application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under the supervision of experienced staff.
Assist in operatin g , calibratin g , and maint ai n i n g agronomy equipment such as sprayers, spreaders, and precision agriculture tools.
Gather field data using precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS systems, drones, or scouting apps) and help compile and report findings to agronomists and customers .
Work alongside agronomy staff to communicate findings and recommendations to customers, ensuring high-quality customer service.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations regarding handling chemicals and equipment in the field.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Currently pursuing a degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related field.
Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Strong interest in agronomy and crop production.
Basic understanding of crop systems, soil health, and pest management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical ability to perform fieldwork and operate equipment.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
