What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Prepress Operator position at Pratt Industries?
The prepress operator's primary function is to prepare files for digital output using industry standard software and techniques.
RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide document layout, alterations, adjustments, and text changes based on quality assurance and workflow policies.
- Provide particular insights and recommendations related to which changes should be escalated to management.
- Perform validation checks and adjustments on digital workflows (specifications, layout, etc.), flagging adjustments as necessary to ensure modifications to workflows processes.
- Documents and flags workflow issues so that they can be updated accordingly.
- Performs troubleshooting to ensure products (items) are properly displaying and functioning.
- Apply quality assurance tools and techniques.
- Follow department quality guidelines to ensure work meets quality standards.
- Communicate issues with department supervisors before expense overruns are incurred.
- Design/create graphics for internal or external projects as needed.
EDUCATION and SKILLS
- At least 3 years of prepress experience, preferably in the corrugated/packaging industry.
- Ability to troubleshoot document format issues and edit documents to achieve output results.
- Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
- Moderate creative/design skills. Some experience preferred.
- Thorough understanding of the PDF format and its use in the printing process.
- Familiarity with color management concepts and processes.
- Solid MS office skills: Word, Excel: Forms, Formulas, Functions.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Well-developed organizational time management skills
- Must have superior attention to detail for the customer and ensure the customer's expectations regarding delivery time, quality of the product and cleanliness of the Product is met on a daily basis.
- High level of energy, must be able to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple document formats/revisions/priorities within a dynamic workflow environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to always remain flexible in roles by assisting in other functions when assigned area is not busy.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Working knowledge in MS office (incl. Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
