POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Project and Process Manager is responsible for performing research, designing smaller projects within financial and operational scope, and implementing moderate projects, or sub-sets of complex projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reports to Engineering and Maintenance Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known.
Coordinates activities with management to review projects, objectives, timelines, project tasks, and ensuring communications within the plant.
Applies fundamental engineering principles and practices while performing research on vendors, equipment, processes, and other areas as required to examine potential solutions or recommend appropriate actions.
Responds to complex questions and concerns from management, investigates process, equipment, quality, and other problems or areas and determines appropriate solutions.
Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas.
Implements and monitors small to complex projects that impact general operations to ensure objectives and timelines are met and works with management or plant personnel as required.
Leads on-going and updated operations, processes, equipment, and related areas, develops and reviews a variety of reports and documents, and adjusts equipment or activities as needed.
Completes appropriate forms and documentation regarding projects to receive budget, operational, and final approval; approves projects under span of control.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience working in Maintenance and Electrical Departments. Minimum of 5 years working as Engineer. Previous Pulp and Paper experience is preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- Applying intermediate project management principles and practices;
- Interpreting and applying department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations;

- Understanding of basic operations management principles;
- PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints, P&ID's, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Leading root cause analysis and problem solving teams. Analytical and field troubleshooting skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Professional office and manufacturing environments; may be subject to high levels of dust, odors, fumes, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, loud noises, and other environmental factors found in manufacturing environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
