Position Title: Academic Colorectal Surgeon Location: Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA Job Type: Full-Time | Faculty Appointment Department: Surgery – Division of Colorectal Surgery Overview: The Division of Colorectal Surgery at Tufts Medical Center seeks a board-eligible or board-certified Colorectal Surgeon to join our growing academic practice. Our division provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art surgical care for the full spectrum of benign and malignant colorectal diseases. We offer advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches, and our practice is broad—encompassing general colorectal surgery as well as complex, multidisciplinary cases. The position includes opportunities to work with a diverse patient population and contribute to a collaborative, academically focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality surgical care for a wide range of colorectal conditions, including elective and urgent procedures using open, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques. Participate actively in the education and mentorship of general surgery residents and medical students. Engage in academic and scholarly activities, including clinical research, quality improvement, and contributions to national surgical societies. Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, including gastroenterology, oncology, radiology, pathology, and other specialties, to deliver comprehensive colorectal care. Attend and contribute to departmental case conferences, tumor boards, and educational meetings. Qualifications: MD or DO with completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency and Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship. Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery and Colon & Rectal Surgery. Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts. Demonstrated commitment to academic surgery, including resident teaching, education, and clinical scholarship. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-based approach to care. Willingness to participate in outreach efforts, including travel to affiliated hospitals within the Tufts Medicine system to provide colorectal surgical care. Senior mentorship is available to support professional growth and help launch a successful academic surgical career. Academic Appointment: Faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic record.
