Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Digital Technology team is seeking a high-energy Application Architect to join our Engineering Applications team where you will have the opportunity to design and build the next generation of Digital Engineering applications, pushing the boundaries on knowledge management modernization and other key initiatives, in support of the Engineering function. You will be a technical lead ( Associate Director), for a highly collaborative team responsible for delivery of software to our engineering customers and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application architecture design for primarily web applications (.NET, Azure) as a technical lead of a Scrum Team delivering incremental value
- Be the technical focal of a team of Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Program Management, Engineering end-users & SMEs
- Work collaboratively with other developers, QA/Testing, internal and external partners to plan and execute global Engineering Application requirements in support of world class system availability and performance
- Help design and build enterprise application integrations solutions to enable end-to-end data connectivity across the organization
- Work to build and enhance the Pratt DevSecOps pipeline and overall code quality & automations
- Define the strategy for the deployment of application performance monitoring tools to improve the performance and reliability of applications
- Lead DT Interdisciplinary Program Management Teams to provide technical expertise and maintain project continuity and communicate deployment plans
- Author the Pratt roadmap for the software application as it relates to broader strategy, including technologies and industry best practices
- Assist with challenges found during testing of the application, in coordination with QA / Testing teams
- Be available for application deployments and go-live support, as required for an Architect-level role
- Mentor and coach new members of the team, including technical learning, code deep-dives, scrum adoption, business process, and product knowledge sharing
Experience/Qualifications:
- 10 years in software development experience, preferably web applications in C# or similar (Java, C , Python, Javascript, etc) or other similar technical role
- 2 years experience with Strategy development, preferably in an Architect role
- Knowledge and experience working in Agile / Scrum teams, including daily standups, retrospectives, demos/reviews
- Experience with cloud architectures and deployments, preferably Azure
- Ability to provide strategic technical DT-Engineering leadership and lead by influence the creation of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) roadmaps in a virtual environment
- Willingness to learn new technologies & take on new projects to grow experience, and grow the strategy/adoption of these new initiatives
- Past experience to deliver architecture design, application integration, product road mapping, delivery and support
- Ability to design and implement solutions for web applications, at least at the pseudocode level
- Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, can develop clear, concise and logically written business communications, as well as deliver recommendations effectively to demanding audiences
- Proven track record of delivering software solutions, technical solutions, and solving problems
- Demonstrated effectiveness working in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to build strong relationships to leverage information and insights across key groups
- Self-starter with self-confidence, enthusiasm, and strong customer service orientation
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen (required due to Government contractual requirements)
- Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience or an advanced degree with 10 years of experience or HS with 16 years of experience. Preferred fields include Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related technical discipline(s)

- Advanced degree
- Highly skilled at analyzing business process and seeing opportunities for digital solutions
- Experience in supplier management, Project Management, SDLC, Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Good communication skills, work ethic and a high level of personal integrity and accountability
- Strong analytical skills, demonstrated organizational and leadership skills, examples of effective teamwork, a track record of consistently meeting deadlines and due dates
- You're comfortable working with minimal daily supervision and to balance numerous priorities
- Experience designing and implementing automated solutions
