Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Design Engineer II to support our Hot Section Design team. This position is working Onsite at our North Berwick, Maine campus.
The North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) organization is responsible for engineering activities for hardware throughout the gas turbine including the Fan, Low Pressure Compressor (LPC), High Pressure Compressor (HPC), Combustor, Low Pressure Turbine, High Pressure turbine and Mechanical System modules across all Pratt & Whitney's military and commercial products. NBEC is co-located with Pratt & Whitney’s largest manufacturing facility. This specific opportunity is to join our Hot Section component designers Team.
What You Will Do:
Department/Segment Overview: The North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) organization is responsible for engineering activities for hardware throughout the gas turbine including the Fan/Low Pressure Compressor, High Pressure Compressor, Combustor, Low Pressure Turbine, High Pressure Turbine and Mechanical System modules across all of Pratt & Whitney's military and commercial products. NBEC is co-located with Pratt & Whitney’s largest manufacturing facility where there is hands-on collaboration between manufacturing, assembly and engineering groups. This specific opportunity is to join our team of military turbine component designers.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

What You Will Do:
- Design assemblies and components to support new engine programs and improve current products.
- Execute engineering calculations throughout concept, preliminary, and final design phases.
- Work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure producible part designs; and Work closely with manufacturing operations to disposition non-conforming material.
- Participate in IPT meetings to ensure success of product designs and engineering changes.
- Ensure compliance to Pratt and Whitney's engineering process called Engineering Standard Work.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced engineers.
- Travel up to 20%.
- Model base definition.
- Design of military turbine products for legacy and future applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
- 2 years of product development and design experience in aerospace, mechanical, or an Advanced degree in Engineering.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience in Unigraphics, NX, and Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as: milling, turning, welding, coatings, castings.
- Experience in the successful execution of tasks to meet technical, schedule and budget requirements.
- Experience executing hardware deliveries and product designs for rigs or modules.
- Experience collaborating with other non-collocated teams.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
