What You Will Do
Instrumentation Design Engineering (IDE) within the Development Operations department is seeking an experienced drafting / product definition professional. Our group designs some of the most advanced instrumentation ranging from accelerometer brackets, major station probes, blade tip clearance probes and slip ring packages through optical blade tip timing probes and fan blade out packages. Our hardware is used to collect data during the testing of every engine in the Pratt and Whitney portfolio. Employee will work collaboratively with the instrumentation design staff to capture design intent using standard product definition methodologies.
Qualifications You Must Have
This requisition is eligible for an employee referral award. ALL eligibility requirements must be met to receive the referral award.
The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. What You Will Do

- Plan, draw, and revise detail part, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Perform product definition via conventional 2D drafting practices as well as 3D Model-Based Design (MBD) methodologies
- Review, mark-up, and approve drawings for product definition content of all design staff.
- Review and approve Teamcenter design task releases for product definition and required content.
- Coach/train/mentor design practitioners to improve collective product definition competency.
- Support Configuration management activities including creating Bill-of-Equipment (BOE) for engine builds, revising existing part numbers, and release of instrumentation tasks.
- Author/edit instrumentation design product definition Engineering Standard Work (ESW)
- Travel is up to 10%.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelors in STEM and 8 years of experience in design, drafting or product definition or in lieu of degree 15 years of experience in design, drafting or product definition.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with gas turbine engine design and/or instrumentation design
- Experience with Model-Based Design / Product Definition
- Experience with UG NX modeling and drafting tools
- Experience with Teamcenter product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
- Knowledge Understanding of of P&W Drafting Room Manual
- ASME Y14.5 standards, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Services include Assembly, Instrumentation and Test of engines and rigs and the associated facilities, hardware, data systems, software and technology to support this.
