Position Role Type : Onsite

We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engine Control Systems team in Windsor Locks, CT. In this role, you'll report to the Systems Integration Manager and play a key role in supporting our programs. You'll be involved in the integration of advanced engine control system components, including FADEC, sensors, actuators, and fuel systems.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate system-level engine requirements and verification planning with multi-disciplinary teams within Collins and with our customer, Pratt & Whitney (PW).
  • The focus will be on Electrical and Electronic products and subsystems.
  • Review data using PW Unigraph, support investigations, isolate issues to the component level, and address them with the responsible Integrated Project Team (IPT).
  • Design and develop Jet Engine and Flight Control Systems for Commercial and / or Military engine programs. This includes long-term responsibilities within the systems integration team such as :
  • Architecture Development
  • Control system analysis to support requirements development and verification
  • Requirements Management and Allocation

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in engine and aircraft system design.
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated success in various settings.
  • Familiarity with electrical, electronic, and sensing components and subsystems.
  • Familiarity with Collins and Pratt & Whitney tools, design processes, and qualification procedures.
  • Proficiency in DOORS, MATLAB, Dymola (or similar physics-based modeling applications), and Cameo Systems Modeler (or similar SYSML tools).
  • Experience in engine control systems.
  • Experience with Model-Based Design tools and practices.
  • Experience with fuel and actuation systems.
  • Experience in hardware integration.
  • Experience in System Dynamics Modeling, as well as System Verification and Validation.

    The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education / training, and key skills.
