JOB SUMMARY:
PraXel is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Substation General Foreman to lead and manage substation construction projects. This role combines on-site leadership with planning and coordination, demanding a candidate who can effectively balance hands-on expertise with strategic oversight. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of substation construction, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
On-Site Leadership & Supervision:
- Oversee and direct all on-site substation construction activities.
- Supervise and mentor substation crews, ensuring efficient and safe work practices.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades to maintain project schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
- Resolve on-site issues and conflicts promptly and effectively.
Project Planning & Coordination (Hybrid):
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly progress reports.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on project status and challenges.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety meetings and training.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.
- Promote a strong safety culture on all project sites.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all work is performed to the highest quality standards.
- Conduct quality control inspections and address any deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections and tests.
Mentorship and Training:
- Train and mentor less experienced team members.
- Help develop the skills of the substation team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in substation construction.
- Extensive knowledge of substation equipment, materials, and construction methods.
- Proven experience in leading and managing substation construction crews.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer skills for reporting and communication.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certifications related to substation work are a plus.
