Substation General Foreman

JOB SUMMARY: 

PraXel is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Substation General Foreman to lead and manage substation construction projects. This role combines on-site leadership with planning and coordination, demanding a candidate who can effectively balance hands-on expertise with strategic oversight. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of substation construction, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

On-Site Leadership & Supervision:  

• Oversee and direct all on-site substation construction activities. 
• Supervise and mentor substation crews, ensuring efficient and safe work practices. 
• Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades to maintain project schedules. 
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety. 
• Resolve on-site issues and conflicts promptly and effectively. 

Project Planning & Coordination (Hybrid):  

• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. 
• Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment. 
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts. 
• Prepare and submit daily and weekly progress reports. 
• Participate in project meetings and provide input on project status and challenges. 

Safety & Compliance:  

• Enforce strict adherence to all company safety policies and procedures. 
• Conduct safety meetings and training. 
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and codes. 
• Promote a strong safety culture on all project sites. 

Quality Control:  

• Ensure all work is performed to the highest quality standards. 
• Conduct quality control inspections and address any deficiencies. 
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections and tests. 

Mentorship and Training:  

• Train and mentor less experienced team members. 
• Help develop the skills of the substation team. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation construction. 
• Extensive knowledge of substation equipment, materials, and construction methods. 
• Proven experience in leading and managing substation construction crews. 
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations. 
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Computer skills for reporting and communication. 
• Valid driver’s license. 
• Certifications related to substation work are a plus.
