Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Normal office environment with little exposure to dust and weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e., cold, hot/humid). Will require visits to the production area - where employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, and weather conditions prevalent at the time (cold, hot/humid). Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, twist, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch. Raise and lower an object from one level to another, less than 50 lbs. Good (corrected) eyesight and hand/eye coordination.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance Make sure the company is following all relevant regulations and standards, including local, state and federal regulations, as well as Customer and/or industry standards.
- Develop and implement environmental, health & safety policies, programs & training Create procedures for all areas of the company, including emergency procedures, workplace safety, and environment.
- Manage waste Create systems for managing waste and reducing the company's carbon footprint
- Maintain records Keep records of hazardous waste exposure and discharge and maintain material safety data sheet.
- Maintains and coordinates new environmental/waste permits as needed for the facilities.
- Implements, updates, and manages required regulatory and corporate programs for the plant dealing with occupational safety and health (e.g., Hazard Communication, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Machine Guarding, Industrial Hygiene, Hearing Conservation, Pedestrian Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.)
- Investigate accidents, incidents, property damage, etc. to determine root causes
- Manages Worker's Compensation and Employee injury program
- Help with capital projects Provide expertise for H&S assessments, capital projects, and work orders
- Participates in audits and regulatory inspections
- Provides necessary EHS and Sustainability data for customer-required environmental and ES&G surveys/certifications/service agreements, such as SMETA, Ecovadis, etc.
- Creates training as subject matter expert
- Bachelor’s degree, in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or related field, required or equivalent combination
- Demonstrated experience creating an employee-focused safety culture at a company or facility.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
- Certified Safety Professional preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA and other applicable industry environmental, health, and safety standards
- Able to understand and execute processes including recognizing customer needs, communicating process changes, measuring and assessing success, and identifying areas of improvement
- Strong knowledge of MS Office programs Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
- Superior communication skills - verbal and written
- Ability to present training topics to small or medium-sized groups
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
