Community Relations Manager
DESCRIPTION:This position promotes the Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) through specialized community outreach, relations, advocacy, and engagement efforts as a member of the PCBDD Leadership Team.
As an employee of the Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD), the job incumbent shall comply with Board policies, and shall demonstrate respect for, support the dignity of, and observe the rights of all individuals served by the Board, and demonstrate sensitivity to diverse beliefs, values and family structures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, business or other related field and/or equivalent experience
· Satisfactory criminal background and Abuser Registry checks
· Satisfactory pre-employment drug test and physical
· Possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license
· Must be able to abide by PCBDD’s Code of Conduct and adopted values
DUTIES:
Community Relations & Advocacy
· Develops, coordinates and manages community relations for PCBDD, disseminating information to local residents, agencies, governmental groups, organizations and businesses.
· Serves as liaison with Preble County Special Olympics and other community organizations.
· Advocates for community inclusion, encouraging support and understanding of people of all abilities within the community.
· Establishes and maintains strong community relationships to encourage volunteerism, advocacy and engagement.
Media and Public Relations
· Acts as the organization’s media spokesperson, coordinates media requests and assists the Superintendent with media interactions.
· Develops and distributes press releases, feature stories and ensures consistent messaging on the PCBDD website.
· Coordinates media interest, maintains a strong media network and keeps the community informed about PCBDD services and advocacy efforts.
· Writes and edits public reports, newsletters, and communications materials to promote the agency’s mission and services.
Content Creation & Design
· Oversee the editorial direction, content creation, and design for print and electronic materials, ensuring brand consistency with PCBDD’s Brand Book.
· Designs and creates marketing materials, including displays, brochures and promotional content for events, fairs and festivals.
· Uses creative writing, public speaking and multimedia (videos, social media, presentations) to share the agency’s messages and foster community inclusion.
· Conducts market research and coordinates activities to assess community needs and enhance public relations strategies.
· Collaborates with PCBDD departments to develop professional communications materials to educate the community about services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Event Coordination & Community Engagement
- Maintains a strong network of community contacts to ensure ability to convey or obtain information. Requires excellent networking skills.
- Coordinates community events such as Track-n-Treat, Autism Awareness Month and DD Awareness Month, along with other community outreach activities.
· Assists with coordinating self-determination conferences and advocacy meetings at local and regional levels.
Administrative & Operational Support
· Works with the Superintendent and Leadership Team to develop and maintain strategies for community awareness and engagement.
· Maintains mailing and contact lists for newsletters and publications.
· Manages and updates the database of individuals served who grant or deny permission for promotional photos.
· Ensures compliance with Board policies, regulatory changes, and participates in required training activities.
· Monitors and remains current on regulatory and legislative changes relative to job duties and responsibilities. Participates in training activities as assigned.
- Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and punctuality and may require working flexible hours
- Must be able to self-transport to and around various locations in agency or personal vehicles as part of assigned work. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with fewer than five (5) violations on record at any time.
· Undertakes additional responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent
· Performs other duties as assigned
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:Superintendent
LOCATION:Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 112 W. Main Street, Eaton, Oh 45320
WORKING HOURS:Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. business hours, 40 hours per week, flexible schedule based on individual/agency needs. May require occasional evening or weekend work for events.
SALARY and BENEFITS:$25.04 per hour or higher, based on education and experience. Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, OPERS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave and flexible work options.
