Early Intervention Manager

DESCRIPTION:This is specialized work in the management, training and oversight of the Early Intervention Department consisting of Developmental Specialists, Service Coordinators and contracted therapy staff. The Manager must be able to initiate new programs and maintain/enhance existing ones to accomplish Early Intervention Department objectives and compliance with state and federal laws.

This position is mandated by Ohio Early Intervention Program Rule and follows family centered practices. The incumbent must be able to provide service coordination and/or specialized instruction to families in early intervention as needed.

The Manager performs high-level planning and organizing, undertaking interactions with a wide scope of people as part of the analytical and information gathering process for the development of policies and procedures; participating in presentations to the Board, parents and other officials when required. Must utilize a variety of communication styles to create mutually acceptable solutions. Must conduct in-depth analysis to identify risk factors and more significant underlying issues. Must make decisions in complex situations, using sophisticated decision-making tools. Monitors effectiveness of decisions considering overall impact.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Health, Social or Behavioral Science, Social Services, Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university.

· Has either:

o At least four (4) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time), supervised, paid experience working with children birth through age five (5) with disabilities, developmental delays or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families; or

o At least two (2) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time), supervised, paid experience working with children birth through age five (5) with disabilities, developmental delays or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families and at least two (2) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) supervised, paid experience in a management or supervisory role

· Working knowledge of EI Rule, Developmental Specialist and Service Coordination functions

· Must meet all agency employment requirements including but not limited to successful BCI/FBI background screen, drug screen and compliance with driver qualifications. Valid Driver's License, ability to be insurable and access to a motor vehicle. Satisfactory results of registry records checks.

CERTIFICATIONS:

· Obtain and maintain Five (5) year certification as a Developmental Specialist per OAC 5180-10-05

· Obtain and maintain Ohio Service Coordinator Supervisor Credential per OAC 5180-10-04 within the first 90 days

· Complete training for Evidence Based Practice Coach within 2 years

DUTIES:

· Provides general management, leadership, clinical, administrative and reflective supervision of the Developmental Specialists and Service Coordinators in the Early Intervention Department (individually and as a team) including formal and informal evaluation and review processes

· Cultivates and promotes positive team building and teaming practices

· Conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations for new employees and position changes

· Develops, coordinates and conducts trainings

· Stays informed of regional, state and national trends in early intervention and early childhood programs

· May provides direct early intervention services or service coordination for a small caseload

· Participates in and assigns caseloads as needed

· Participates in developing and managing department budget

· Develops and promotes positive relations with all families, other agencies and the general public.

· Performs other duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:Early Intervention Director

LOCATION:Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 112 W Main Street, Eaton, Oh 45320

WORKING HOURS:40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, flexible schedule based on individual/agency needs

SALARY and BENEFITS:$25.79 per hour or higher, based on education and experience. Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, OPERS retirement, vacation, sick leave, personal leave and flexible work options.
