For over 10 years, Preble Street Anti-Trafficking Services (ATS) and its partners have provided services to people who have been trafficked and forced through the use of violence into commercial sex work, domestic services, agricultural work, and restaurant work. ATS offers survivor-centered services to help and support survivors of human trafficking in Maine and works to promote individual and systemic justice.
Preble Street Anti-Trafficking Services (ATS) is currently seeking a full-time Housing Caseworker to work as part of the casework team. The primary responsibilities of the ATS Housing Caseworker are to provide housing focused intensive case management, while facilitating access to other community resources and connections. In addition, the caseworker is responsible for providing crisis intervention and support; maintaining and monitoring the safety of clients and program spaces; collaborating as needed with community partners to provide a survivor-centered continuum of care; documenting and reporting as required; and works as a member of the Anti-Trafficking Services team to support and achieve outcomes aligned with program goals and the agency mission. This position will be community-based in Southern Maine.
The ATS Caseworker position is full-time, with a Monday – Friday schedule. The ability to work 40 hours a week is require
Qualifications
- Education or study in social work or related field, OR comparable combination of education and relevant experience, OR comparable combination of education and lived experience.
- Bi/multi-lingual skills preferred
- Experience working with trafficking survivors, and/or similar populations.
- Knowledge of low-barrier service provision, housing-first, harm reduction, and empowerment approaches, and issues related to human trafficking survivors and other experiences of trauma.
- Understanding of systemic racism, oppression, social and economic justice, and issues related to historically excluded/marginalized groups and communities;
- Positive regard for individuals fleeing violence, experiencing homelessness, poverty, engaging in commercial sex, and other complex situations;
- Effective crisis intervention skills, with the ability to establish boundaries and set limits in challenging situations;
- Familiarity with relevant community resources;
- Strong communication skills and experience working within a team-centered environment;
- Computer literacy and strong communication skills, both oral and written
Compensation and Benefits
The rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour. Staff with bi/multi-lingual skills may qualify for an additional $1.00/hour differential.
