Based on the principles that everyone deserves housing and shelter, Preble Street’s Housing First and shelter programs—Logan Place, Florence House, Huston Commons, the Recuperative Care Program, Elena’s Way, and Teen Services—offer supportive services, food, and other essential services alongside access to permanent housing and emergency shelter, with onsite caseworkers and support staff, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Full-time Floating Supervisor positions are available to work in the Housing First and shelter programs during the overnight hours. This management position works across the agency as a member of the third-shift team and has a critical role in supporting clients, tenants, staff, and programs by responding to needs for shift coverage and management support and providing direct services to clients and tenants, where needed.
This is a full-time, awake 3rd shift position with three schedule options: Wednesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Wednesday OR Thursday - Monday, from 11:00pm to 9:00am.

Requirements
Qualifications for the Floating Supervisor position include a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, 3 or more years of experience relevant to providing services to people experiencing homelessness, and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
Additional requirements include the ability to supervise direct service staff; strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; the ability to engage with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission; and commitment to providing low-barrier, high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness.
The Floating Supervisor is required to remain awake for the duration of shifts and to work during evening, overnight, and weekend hours, with regular and consistent attendance. COVID-19 vaccination status is required to be up-to-date upon hire and to maintain up-to-date vaccination status for the duration of employment.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $28.72 per hour. This position is also eligible for the overnight shift differential of $2.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:
- 4 weeks (160 hours, accrued) vacation time, 12 days (96 hours, accrued) sick time, 4 days/32 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
