Hope House Director (Bangor, Maine)
Hope House, a Preble Street low-barrier shelter located in Bangor, Maine, provides shelter and intensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work best practices.
The Hope House Program Director requires an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s social justice mission; strong skills and experience in team management and leadership in a complex program or organization; commitment to furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workforce and services; ability to successfully plan, implement, and manage programs; and ability to adapt to and navigate change. The Director’s role is essential in ensuring shelter services are provided to meet the complex needs of individuals accessing services in alignment with program objectives and the agency mission.
Responsibilities of the Director include performance and oversight of administrative functions, client services programming, and staff management; supervising members of the direct service management team; and working closely with and in support of the Senior Director on all aspects of program management. The Director regularly engages with clients and supports staff in the shelter spaces.
The Program Director also works in conjunction with other Social Work Program Directors in program development and evaluation, resource and systems development, community relations, and grants management.
This is a full-time exempt salaried (40 hour/week) position with occasional work during evenings and weekends required. Regional travel is expected.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field of study; significant, relevant experience in nonprofit management; and a minimum of three years of experience working with homeless populations.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position with a salary of $76,000, annualized, generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits, including:
- 160 hours (4 weeks) vacation time, 96 hours (12 days) sick time, 32 hours (2 days) personal time, 12 Paid Holidays.
