What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hope House Wellness Navigator position at Preble Street?
Hope House, a Preble Street low-barrier shelter located in Bangor, Maine, provides shelter and intensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work best practices.
The Hope House Wellness Navigator provides comprehensive case management and housing-related services while ensuring the safety of clients and program spaces; participates in program coverage and outreach activities; ensures the collection, documentation and reporting of information and data as required; and works as a member of the Hope House team to support and achieve outcomes aligned with program goals and the agency mission.
Population Served: Individuals who are experiencing homelessness.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelors degree in social work or related field of study and experience in direct service provision to people experiencing homelessness, or comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
Required skills and knowledge include:
- Understanding of the Preble Street mission, harm reduction, and social and economic justice including the role of policy advocacy throughout all programs and positions.
- Understanding and positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty.
- Familiarity with relevant community resources.
- Understanding of low-barrier services and related challenges
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour. As a direct service position in a 24/7 program, this position is eligible for shift differentials of $1.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm or $2.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.
