Description
Through intensive, housing-focused casework and financial assistance, the Rapid Rehousing team at Preble Street connects individuals and families with permanent housing and resources, helping people quickly leave or prevent homelessness and find safe, stable housing. Preble Street’s evidence-based Rapid Rehousing program collaborates with landlords and community partners to offer evidence-based, solutions-oriented services toward ending homelessness in Maine.
The Rapid Rehousing model is a critical component of our comprehensive response to homelessness—join the work toward ending homelessness as a Caseworker with the RRH team. A caseworker position based in Lewiston-Auburn is currently available with weekday, daytime schedules. RRH Caseworkers work directly with and support clients in securing and maintaining permanent housing, and participate in outreach, engagement, and program coverage activities.
This full-time (40 hours/week) role has a schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Qualifications
RRH Caseworker qualifications include education in social work or related field and experience relevant to working with people experiencing homelessness, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Caseworkers must also have an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services, as well as strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; ability to develop productive, collaborative relationships with community partners and landlords; strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain documentation of services; ability to maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Compensation and Benefits
The rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour. Staff with bi/multi-lingual skills may qualify for an additional $1.00/hour differential. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:
- 160 hours (4 weeks, accrued) vacation time, 96 hours (12 days, accrued) sick time, 16 hours personal time, 12 paid holidays
