Education: Bachelor’s or master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution (REQUIRED)
Required experience: Work in laboratory setting (1 year minimum), Pipetting (1 year minimum), PCR (1 year minimum)
Responsibilities:
- Receive, label, organize and safely store patient specimens for testing, ensuring proper handling and chain of custody to protect personnel and ensure sample integrity.
- Determine and perform the necessary tests for analysis and reporting based on laboratory protocols.
- Execute laboratory testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all assays on the testing menu.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance.
- Record test results both electronically and on paper, ensuring accuracy and compliance with documentation protocols.
- Discuss and address inquiries regarding test results, providing clarity as needed.
- Follow established quality control policies, documenting all QC activities, calibrations, instrument maintenance, and procedural checks.
- Identify and troubleshoot any issues affecting test performance or result accuracy; escalate concerns to the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director as necessary.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, including routine calibrations and troubleshooting as required.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from expected performance specifications.
- Maintain accurate equipment records and daily work logs to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Stay current with scientific and technical advancements related to laboratory testing and diagnostics.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, CDC, and FDA guidelines, ensuring full compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment to support efficient and safe operations.
