In-Person Part-time Assistant/Housekeeper

Hi there!

I am looking for a trustworthy and reliable in-person personal assistant/housekeeper on a long-term basis (for the next 1 year minimum) to assist with various tasks in Valparaiso.

- Being an in-person assistant.

- Housekeeping or helping an individual with errands

- Volunteering

- Babysitting / child sitting / taking care of pets

- Or similiar high trust position working with people and being trusted around their home/possessions/pets/etc.

I will be selecting 2-3 candidates and conducting a 20 minute meet and greet through Zoom initially for the dates of May 6-May 9, and then hiring in the following 1-2 weeks after that.

Examples tasks that might be needed are grocery shopping, cleaning around the house/vacuuming/wiping off counter tops/etc, taking out trash (garbage/boxes), unpacking packages and stocking food/drinks, generally tidying the place up, putting together furniture/etc and running errands such as picking up medication, taking the car for a wash/to get gas, dropping off packages at USPS/UPS, and any miscellaneous tasks that come up around town or my apartment.

This is a part-time position (5 hrs once a week initially) with the potential for more hours in the future, so please only apply if you're OK with 5-10 hours a week, 1 -2 days a week initially. As time goes on, I'd expect it to consistently be more along the lines of 6-12 hours a week 1-2 days a week.

This job can essentially be done whenever you're free between 9 am to 5 pm Mon-Fri, and potentially the weekend depending on my schedule. I have a pretty open schedule, so the day(s) per week can be flexible/variable and something we can discuss further, but please mention what day(s) you'd like to target in your application so I can get an understanding.

The ideal candidate will live in Porter County or Lake County (preferably Valparaiso) and is seeking part-time work for extra income, with a flexible schedule and can comfortably commit to at least a year for this role. I would highly prefer someone who has experience working as a personal assistant, housekeeper, has some experience in a home/office setting, or has held extremely high trust positions.

Given how important this position and the trust required, I do have expectations for at least 2-3 related references and a solid work/volunteer/education history. Pay will be dictated based off of experience/qualifications.

Responsibilities include:

• Helping with tasks around the house/apartment such as cleaning using a pre-made checklist to follow, putting away groceries, getting mail, light moving/organizing, breaking down boxes & taking to recycling, taking out trash, etc.
• Running errands around town such as grocery shopping, picking up/dropping off packages, taking the car for maintenance/oil changes, etc.

Requirements:

• Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
• Must be exceptionally trustworthy, punctual, and possess excellent communication skills.
• Must have a long track record and examples of displaying high trustworthiness and maintaining confidentiality.
• Willingness to undergo and pass a thorough background check.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks as needed.
• Must be able to provide 2-3 solid references who can vouch for your integrity and reliability.
• Ideally would prefer someone who can be available on an as needed emergency basis as well (ex: last minute medical appointments, doing a high priority emergency task), not a requirement, but would be helpful and pay for anything emergency related would be 1.5-2x the normal hourly rate.
• Previous experience as a personal assistant is a big plus.

Compensation:

• Hourly pay based on experience and qualifications.
• Mileage reimbursement for any tasks that require driving.
• Expense reimbursement for any necessary expenses incurred while performing tasks or running errands.
