Reports To: Machining Supervisor
Primary Function: To install hardware into machined castings that become sub-components of larger assemblies for our customers.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares bonding chemicals for application to product.
- Applies bonding chemicals to product per procedures.
- Applies proper hardware to product per techniques.
- Performs paint touch-up as needed.
- Visually inspects parts for defects.
- Performs chem. film on parts as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Able to work in a production environment.
- Able to read and comprehend English.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
- fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. (Used for interpreting blueprints, maintaining inventories, mixing chemicals in appropriate ratios, and determining installation tolerances.)
- Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. continuously.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Able to write reports and business correspondence. (Techniques, blueprints, specifications, and shop travelers.)
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Near vision requirement is Jaeger J1 in on eye, at no less than 12 inches; or equivalent, or Jaeger J2 in one eye, at no less than 16 inches. Corrected or uncorrected.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications regarding parts.
- Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.
- Able to meet individual productivity requirements.
- Able to meet internal quality requirements.
- May be required to take hazardous waste training.
Desired Competencies:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 to 6 months of training or experience
Normal Working Conditions
- Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of the majority of duties. Makes decisions when general instructions, established methods, and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken, but refers unusual problems to superiors.
- Environmental conditions encountered frequently includes vibration.
- Environmental conditions encountered occasionally includes working near moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes or airborne particles.
- Job duties may include limited hazardous waste management including transferring hazardous waste containers to the facility’s hazardous waste storage locations. Comprehensive hazardous waste training will be required annually for those Assembler employees engaged in hazardous waste management activities.
- Typical noise environment for the work environment of this job is Loud Noise. (Appropriate ear protection is required.)
- Continuous required physical demands include using hands to handle or feel.
- Frequent required physical demands include sitting, standing, and hearing.
- Occasional required physical demands include sitting, walking, driving, reaching above shoulder level, reaching below shoulder level, stooping or squatting, talking, pushing or pulling.
