Position Summary :
The Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Engineering Manager oversees the entire process control function of the organization including Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and CNC Programming. This position manages the Capital Expenditure Budget for the plant and is accountable for annual cost saving improvements. This position resolves manufacturing problems using modern problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, A3, and Root Cause Corrective Action. This position is expected to be the subject matter expert on the organizations processing capabilities and technology.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Direct management of both Manufacturing Engineers (exempt employees) and Programmers (non-exempt employees) in performance of :
- Creation and management of Bills of Materials and Manufacturing Routings
- Creation and management of CNC Programs for use in both Tooling and Fitting manufacture
- Creation and management of manufacturing Work Instructions (DWIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Creation and revision of Forging Dies, CNC tooling, CNC holding fixtures, and custom gages
- Management of the Statistical Process Control system in use by shop-floor personnel
- The planning, facilitation, and management of strategic projects throughout the plant and coordination or acquisition of resources to support these projects to meet corporate targets. This role includes actions such as :
Creation, submittal, and management of CAPEXs for the purposes of new equipment acquisitions, equipment overhauls, and new product or process integrations
Coordination of equipment installations, including layouts, managing vendors and contractors, supporting subordinates, and financial budget managementManagement of the project pipeline with monthly escalation to corporate for reviewPersonnel management to achieve corporate goalsIdentifying financial savings and supporting the various continuous improvement activities throughout the plant, including :Cost-control projects such as consumable CNC tooling, raw materials usage in product manufacture, and variable costs including labor and overhead costs.
Process improvements through the use of both new and existing tools; including Lean, Six Sigma, the Kaizen approach, A3 problem solving, and Root-cause problem solvingSupporting various quality assurance and improvement initiatives from the standpoint of manufacturing processes, technologies, and Methods Engineering practices. This includes investigations related to internal discrepancies, customer corrective actions and returns, and in the application of both product and process knowledgeSupport the management of New Product Integration with respect to the manufacturability, process control, equipment capability, supporting personnel requirements, and the completion of data (i.e. BOM, RTR, etc.) setup in ERPAct as the subject matter expert for PCC Senior management relative to Permaswage's processes, core manufacturing competencies, and identified opportunities for future improvementsCreate and make high-level presentations of both information and data to persons both internal and external of the organization, and be able to answer detailed questions pertaining to informationQualifications :
