Position Summary:
Level Three – Level Three: Building upon level two, level three quality inspectors will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods per ASME 14.5. They will also demonstrate expert level blueprint reading and manufacturing/inspection related math skills. They will either serve as SMEs for mechanical, assembly or CMM inspection. These inspectors read and interpret results of inspections to determine product conformance and will have enough knowledge of manufacturing processes to provide detailed feedback on ways to improve product quality. These inspectors work independently and seek little guidance from higher level employees. They will also demonstrate advanced knowledge in AS9102 reporting, including the ability to create reports independently. Typically, 4-6 years of experience.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102 requirements.
- Evaluate engineering data packages and/or specifications to define the requirements for the manufacturing process.
- Creating In-Process and Final Inspection plans to internal and external requirements.
- Support the site by serving as a SME in mechanical or assembly inspections or as a CMM inspector.
- Evaluate non-conformance issues and provide feedback for corrective actions.
- Review In-Process inspection reports for accuracy to defined inspection plans.
Required Skills:
- Advanced competencies in shop math and GD&T comprehension and application.
- SME in CMM operation or Mechanical Assembly Inspection processes.
- Advanced competencies using a wide range of inspection tools and processes.
- Computer proficiency in required software (MS Suite, CATIA, PC-DMIS, Net-Inspect etc.)
- Communicate proficiently with Customer contacts to resolve time sensitive matters.
Required Experience:
- This position requires evidence of successfully mastering level two competencies and at least three years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Typically 4-6 years of experience
Level of Education:
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
