General Summary
The Engineering Manager provides leadership in the pursuit of manufacturing and product development excellence. This position manages all manufacturing, industrial, quality, and product engineering functions for the respective business area.
Key responsibilities include:
· Complete management of all manufacturing activities, including machine analysis for productivity and process improvements.
· Manufacturing-based validation of all product designs and redesigns to ensure manufacturability, functionality, quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness.
· Test and quality assurance, continuous improvements on lean implementations, and shop floor automation.
· Complete project management on the development and testing of product designs and redesigns.
· Providing leadership in innovation through the application of advanced product development and manufacturing processes to improve the company's competitive position.
Essential Job Duties
· Identify critical missing pieces from the company’s product offerings for the respective product binder and implement action to bring needed items into the design stage, as well as setting team expectations.
· Oversee the release of design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs.
· Set expectations for direct team to provide production support, collaborate with manufacturing leaders, and developing strategies for continued improvement.
· May provide onsite field support for complex issues
· Work with cross-functional teams to determine priorities and set expectations for value engineering/design for manufacturing assembly and automation.
· Understand the roadmap of code and compliance for the business and products.
· Establish and work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to prioritize projects and set focus aligning with long-term business strategy.
· Responsible for the supervision and development of the engineering team.
· Provide leadership in innovation through the application of advanced product development and manufacturing processes to improve the company’s competitive position.
· Collaborate with business unit leadership in strategic planning process.
· Develop, propose, and manage department costs to target budges.
· Collaborate with business leadership to maintain and develop product selection software.
· Coach, mentor, and provide subject matter expertise for training initiatives related to advanced manufacturing processes.
· Lead the development, prioritization, and implementation of annual budgets. Align with the measurement of labor and productivity goals.
· Work with equipment vendors and internal resources to find solutions and long term strategies.
· Provide strategic leadership in recognizing, recommending, and validating changes to improve manufacturing ability. Manage and mentor others to implement changes with product design engineering.
· Manages machine capacity analysis and strategy for the applicable business area.
· Manage one or more teams
· Manage lean strategy for applicable business area
· Manage business projects; involving individuals from various departments to ensure integration and alignment between business units, manufacturing, sales, finance, marketing, and product engineering.
· Develop strategies to support production and manufacturing to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.
