We are currently seeking a Maintenance Purchasing Clerk, who will be responsible for procuring materials, goods, machine parts and services necessary to support and maintain daily operations. This role involves sourcing, negotiating and purchasing supplies and services from both internal and external vendors and contractors. This individual will ensure that all procurement activities are performed in a cost-effective and timely manner while maintaining quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create Purchase Orders (PO) from requisitions using Genesis System
- Contact vendors or outside contractors with POs by phone or e-mail
- Schedule deliveries based on schedules from requisitions; timing, transportation
- Communicate completed requisitions from those requesting parts or services
- Receive supplies from incoming freight
- Assure that quality and quantities of received goods are in accordance with appropriate PO
- Receive packing slip into the Genesis System
- Indicate received parts on packing slip and turn into accounting on a weekly basis
- Approve adjustments to PO's and/or invoices to ensure accuracy
- Store stock items in their proper bin locations as indicated in Genesis
- Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, service and other criteria.
- Interact with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Authorize payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories
- Purchase items at local businesses as needed
- Deliver purchased items when received by the department(s) and/or
- communicate for pickup
- Perform Purchase Order follow-up with internal and external customer/vendors
- Arrange for and direct contract work to the facility as directed
- Assist in writing projects and follow up on as directed
- Assist Maintenance Supervisors with breakdowns to identify machine parts and/or vendors
- Receive requisitions for Purchasing with authorized signatures
- Research parts from vendors and/or outside contractors as needed
- Perform other work as requested by immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective organization and planning skills
- Self-motivated, with exceptional follow-through
- Industrial truck license will be required
- Must read/write sufficiently to successfully complete job training requirements and effectively
handle computer operation, work order system, material requisitions and understand written job
requirements
- High school diploma/equivalent required
- Additional training/degree desired
- DMV/MVR 3-year lookback required per DOT standards
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This job is conducted in a manufacturing setting and office environment.
- Work involves frequent standing and moving, climbing of various ladders throughout the 8 hour shift, and infrequent sitting. Must have ability to bend, kneel, and reach.
- Must have 20/40 corrected vision and normal color vision.
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. constantly.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or, 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly.
- Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Must pass all physical and vision tests performed by Cone Occupational Health (PCP score = 4)
- Must wear all necessary safety protective equipment per job task and SDS.
- Must have the ability to climb and perform work on ladders and scissors lift.
- Nosie level is monitored through a hearing conservation program
- Responsibilities may occasionally require adjusted work schedules and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines.
LANGUAGE/COMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Must have the skill set to create materials and make presentations to professional staff.
