The Warehouse Manager oversees operations to ensure that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule. In this role, duties include preparing schedules for Warehouse Associates, training new employees on how to use machinery and monitoring compliance with safety standards. Actively participates in warehouse activities and operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency by supervising, organizing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals.
- Audit and report inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock.
- Manage warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
- Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse.
- Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods.
- Schedule and oversee warehouse team and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime.
- Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.
- Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with management and team leads.
- Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employee performance.
- Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations
- Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of products that have been stocked and provide management with an accurate representation of all materials.
- Meet regularly with warehouse associates to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans.
- Perform regular cycle count to update and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Ensure stock is organized and sorted within the warehouse by properly storing materials in their designated location and according to company standards.
- Assist in maintaining warehouse and related tools and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- May cover daily responsibilities of warehouse staff on an as needed basis in order to ensure effective daily operations.
- Follow company and department policies and procedures related to assigned duties.
- Follow quality standards and comply in accordance with the rules, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist in other warehouse tasks and duties as assigned by manager.
Education, Experience, Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three or more years of experience in a warehouse role managing hourly employees.
- Proficiency with warehouse procedures and policies.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Leadership skills and ability manage staff.
- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of company staff.
- Ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment
- Ability to lift or move heavy products
- Ability to operate powered equipment
- Basic computer skills for maintaining inventory logs and databases.
Physical Requirements
Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must possess and is regularly required to use finger, feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb, sit, stand, talk, and must have hearing and visual acuity, frequent near vision use, exceptional hand-eye coordination, frequent stressful conditions and make repetitive motions, overhead lifting , and work for extended hours to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 85 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment and assistance.
