Description : Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and professional individual to join our team as a Mechanic I. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and as a team, and demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills. This position requires someone who is proactive, punctual, and always maintains a positive and professional attitude.
The Mechanic I assists one or several maintenance mechanics in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment by performing a variety of routine duties such as : stocking materials and supplies; maintaining maintenance personnel with sufficient supplies of materials, tools, and consumables; feeding, unloading, and disassembling machines and cleaning work areas, machines, and equipment. Performs minor assignments under supervision using simple hand tools and equipment. Fabricates simple parts, disassembles machinery prior to repair, cuts and threads pipe and performs minor renovations on equipment, building or grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to the policies of the company outlined in the PGM Employee Handbook, an individual serving in this capacity shall be consistently able to :
- Carry tools and equipment to and from storage and working areas.
- Loosen bolts and screws to dismantle machinery for diagnosis or repair.
- Clean machines with scrapers, solvents and wiping cloths.
- Oil and grease machines in accordance with established schedules. Empty and replenish coolant in machines.
- Perform light custodial work when requested. Clean workstations, tools and equipment.
- Ability to learn the basics of Vantage for time reporting.
- Ability to learn to operate a large metal cutting saw.
- Ability to complete tasks as directed in a timely manner.
- Responsibility for weekly removal of scrap metal, working with scrap metal pick up service
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Education, Training and / or Experience
On the Job Training will be provided. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific visual abilities required for this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to monitor product visually.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, minimal exposure to extreme heat and vibrating machinery. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PPE is Provided in all cases.
