The Molecular FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) Technologist performs specialized diagnostic testing using FISH techniques to detect genetic abnormalities and chromosomal rearrangements. This role involves specimen preparation, hybridization, microscopy analysis, and reporting of results in compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory standards. The technologist collaborates closely with pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information.
Responsibilities :
- Perform laboratory tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis of genetic disorders
- Prepare and analyze samples using laboratory techniques such as karyotyping, FISH, and microarray analysis
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures and results
- Work closely with other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure laboratory accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise
