Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Records Representative to join our team in Jacksonville. This role is vital to maintaining the integrity, security, and accuracy of patient medical records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of HIPAA regulations.
Essential Job Functions
- Record Management: Organize, file, scan, and maintain medical records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Release of Information: Process requests for medical records, ensuring proper authorization and confidentiality standards are met.
- Data Entry & Auditing: Accurately enter patient data into electronic systems and audit records for completeness and compliance.
- Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure adherence to all HIPAA and privacy regulations regarding the handling of sensitive patient information.
- Internal Communication: Collaborate with other departments to retrieve or provide necessary patient information in a timely and secure manner.
- Customer Service: Respond to inquiries from patients, providers, and external parties regarding medical record requests with professionalism and clarity.
- Document Tracking: Maintain logs and tracking for requests, releases, and record retrievals.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Assist with administrative duties as needed.
- Support department projects and initiatives to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a medical records or healthcare administrative role preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical & Working Requirements:
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, and data entry.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
- Standard office environment.
