The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and clerical duties while working under the direction of a physician and physician's assistant. This position is responsible for coordinating transactions both on the phone and in person with patients and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work as a Medical Assistant
- Answer Nurses Phone line and responds promptly to urgent matters
- Takes Medical Histories
- Records Vital Signs
- Opens office visit notes and starts the documentation for the provider
- Prepares patients for examination
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Sterilize medical instruments
- Keeps waiting and exam rooms neat and clean
- Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to assist in office procedures
- Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
- Must be able to interact professionally and politely with patients, staff, and doctors
- Ability to take vitals and patient history
- Utilize various computer technologies for patient information input
- Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions
Job Requirement:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent relevant working experience
- eClinicalworks (eCw) experience preferred
- 2 years’ experience in a medical office preferred
