Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in scheduling or administrative roles.
- Able to multi-task and capable of remaining calm in stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or a related field.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and scheduling software.
- Leadership skills with strength on time management, decision making, team-oriented mindset, mentorship, and communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and orthopedic, podiatry, and/or interventional pain management surgical procedures.
- Experience with schedules surgical procedures at an Ambulatory Surgical Center
- To oversee, train, and provide coverage to the surgical scheduling staff.
- Develop protocols and procedures to improve staff productivity and processes
- Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with surgeons, operating room staff, and patients to find suitable times.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and accurately performs all required pre-certification and/or pre-authorization procedures prior to surgery
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
- Communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner with patients, third party payors/insurance, and employees to provide information regarding surgery, including preparation and follow-up care.
- Ensures surgical scheduling functions are covered daily
- Ensures surgical scheduling voicemail is regularly checked daily and messages are responded to in a timely manner
- Communicates disciplinary problems to upper management as necessary conducts counseling sessions as needed.
