The job requires ability to use a screwdriver to replace the ERT, ability to work in all seasons, with majority of the work outside, walking multiple miles a day with some driving , 70% outside 30% inside, depending on area.
Project Background: What an ERT is.-UGI initiated an AMR (Automated Meter Reading) program in the mid-1990s and, over the next 20years, installed over 600,000 meters with an AMR device. These devices are called endpoints or ERTs (encoder receiver transmitters).-ITRON’s technical bulletin on predicting ERT Module Life claims the original 40G or 100Gmodels introduced in 1992 had a useful life of 20 years, with an estimated battery life of about14 years. The newer generation, 40G (since about 2005), has a predicted life of 17 to 20 years, including the battery. The ERT Replacement Program aims to replace ERTs approaching or beyond their anticipated useful life. This will ensure continuity in UGI’s ability to read meters remotely, enabling UGI to continue timely and accurately billing customers.
