PPS is seeking an experienced and results-driven Northeast Regional Sales Manager to expand our market presence across the Northeast United States. This role focuses on selling pre-packaged pump stations and control systems to municipalities, irrigation consultants, distributors, and golf course superintendents. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of water infrastructure and irrigation systems, coupled with a strong sales acumen.
Outside sales are responsible for developing their region's ongoing strategic relationships and sales channels. This person is a self-starter who is motivated and highly driven to find the right clients and develop long-term strengthening business relationships. They are responsible for coordinating relationships with inside sales and engineering to ensure the customer receives the RFQ on or before expected. The Outside Sales team may develop distribution channels, direct sales, or municipal contracts for PPS or Automation. This person will exhibit excellent management, communication, and coordination skills, and they will be a hands-on expert regarding the marketing and sales process. Responsibilities include proactively evaluating market and segment trends for shifts in strategies. They are responsible for strategic planning input, budgeting, sales metrics, and customer experience.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and manage relationships in their sales territory.
- Develop relationships with new prospects in the region.
- Maintain relationships with existing customers and customer referral partners in their region, including independent sales representatives & distributors.
- Research and be a resource early on in municipal projects to ensure PPS-type product parameters and specifications get designed into the project.
- Monitor public notifications and policies in the region.
- Monitor land sales, land development, and construction projects in the region to look for PPS or Precision Automation product opportunities. Get involved early in significant regional development, including agricultural, manufacturing, or entertainment. Also, keep a pulse on renovation projects.
- Project Manage and communicate proactively to the decision-makers for sales opportunities in their region.
- Partner with independent sales reps & distributors in the area to sell and distribute our products.
- Ensure that PPS features and parameters get specified on major regional projects.
- Develop sales opportunities that take advantage of Brown Box Business (off-the-shelf selling for PPS or Precision Automation).
- Research and give frequent updates to PPS regarding market trends, competition, and customer suggestions or feedback.
- Achieve or exceed sales targets while developing new opportunities for the future. Look for opportunities to add additional outside sales team members that will help grow the market.
- Lead, guide, motivate, and communicate professionally and competently internally & externally.
- Ensure that systems, tools, and processes are in place to improve sales and the customer experience.
- Proactively communicate with the inside sales team.
- Coordinate department projects to meet deadlines.
- Report on sales metrics and suggest improvements.
- Research and discover methods to increase customer engagement.
- Partner with marketing and inside sales, engineering, service, and production to provide feedback and increase sales over time.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, agriculture, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years sales experience in the water infrastructure or irrigation industry.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. - Strong knowledge of municipal water systems, irrigation practices, and pump station technology.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel within the Northeast region as required.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office, typing, and presentation skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Self-directed and highly motivated is a plus.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills are a plus.
- Experience with International Standards (ISO) a plus.
- Sales management experience is a plus.
- Training or experience in sales process development is a plus.
- Marketing communication and trade show experience is a plus.
