Our California division, located in Huntington Beach, seeks an Engineering Intern. This is a paid internship.
Summary
The Engineering Intern will assist in the identification of, and development of solutions for day-to-day manufacturing and productivity issues, under the direction of a Manufacturing Engineer or Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze production data in connection with efforts to improve efficiency and profitability
- Assist in projects related to capacity planning, equipment selection and installation, troubleshooting, and continual improvement.
- Assist in the documentation of systems and procedures related to equipment maintenance, safety, work instructions, and process flow.
- Use Solidworks for 3D CAD design of fixtures, assemblies, and plant layouts
- Participate in continual improvement teams.
- Print components for projects using a 3D printer
- Support tool and part quoting processes, including through part drawings, strip layouts and costing.
- Other tasks and duties as required.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Enrolled in a Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering program such as Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline (Junior or Senior standing only)
- GPA 3.0 or greater (desired).
- Experience using 3D CAD Software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc)
- High degree of integrity, personal initiative, and problem solving skills.
- Experience and/or interest in an industrial environment.
- Experience with metal stamping is a plus.
- Experience with controls and smart manufacturing automation.
- Interest in robot utilization and efficiency.
- Excellent organization and planning skills.
- Ability to learn fast and work under minimal supervision (once trained).
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
