Position Summary
A Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a licensed healthcare professional who specializes in evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. They work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home care environments, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Care
Evaluate patients with breathing disorders by conducting diagnostic tests, such as lung capacity measurements and blood gas analysis.
Administer treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation.
Conduct pulmonary function tests to assess lung performance.
Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and the proper use of equipment, such as inhalers or home ventilators.
Work closely with the healthcare team to create and revise patient care plans.
Required Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or a related field.
Current state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
Strong knowledge of respiratory care techniques, equipment, and medical terminology.
