What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA/QC Technician position at Precision Solar Renewables?
POSITION SUMMARY
The QA/QC Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the solar installations. The QA/QC Technician will work closely with the project management and engineering teams to uphold industry standards, regulatory compliance, and company specifications throughout the construction and operation phase of the projects. The QA/QC Technician will support the project team with field inspections and verifications of civil, mechanical, and electrical tasks completed by Precision Solar Renewables. The QA/QC Technician will report to the HESQ Manager and will spend 85% of their time in the field. The QA/QC Technician must be willing to travel/relocate based on project locations as the project schedules require.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Conduct thorough inspections and audits of all solar projects during various stages of construction and operation. ● Prepare and send material requests to PM (or directly to Procurement as agreed with PM).
● Oversee EPC Contractor’s QA/QC process specific to piles, racking systems, modules, harness/collection systems, inverters, AC/DC wiring systems, substation, transmission line, fencing, SWPPP and perform daily inspections.
● Perform quality control checks on materials, components, and equipment used in solar installations to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
● Electronically log, organize, and track all issues/deficiencies found during inspections.
● Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address and mitigating any quality related issues, nonconformities, and corrective actions in a timely manner.
● Manage deliveries, inspections, and EPC handling of Precision Solar Renewables supplied equipment.
● Manage the punch list and inspection process for efficient project closeout.
● Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies relevant to solar energy and QA/QC practices.
● Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reliability, and quality in solar projects.
● Effectively communicate with all members of the team and/or subcontractors as required.
● Conduct oneself in a professional manner to ensure adherence to all Precision Solar Renewables policies and procedures.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER SKILLS)
● 2–3-years prior experience in distributed generation or utility scale solar QA/AC.
● Ability to perform quality control inspections and create reports on work completed.
● Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations applicable to solar projects (e.g. NEC, IEEE, IEC, NABCEP)
● Familiarity with CPR, First Aid, voltage procedures, lock out tag out, infrared testing, multi-meters, amp clamps, megohmmeters, and torqueing tensioning procedures.
● Familiarity with single axis and multi-axis trackers.
● Ability to travel and work on remote solar projects.
● Self-starter and comfortable in an environment with relatively lean staff.
● Willingness to execute extended field assignments.
● Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
● Plans effectively and establishes courses of actions for self and for others; allocates resources and assigns personnel.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
● Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
● Excellent problem-solving skills.
● OSHA 30 certified.
● CPR-First certified.
