What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll and Compensation Specialist position at Precision Strip?
As the Payroll and Compensation Specialist, you will administer all payroll related processing activities and assist in the compensation program. This position will be based out of our Minster, OH location.
Every day as a Payroll and Compensation Specialist you will...
- Process, reconcile, and transmit multi-location payroll, ensuring accuracy in wages, withholdings, and deductions
- Process wage and salary changes resulting from merit increases, job changes, market adjustments, and payments associated with bonus plans
- Assist in determining eligibility for participate in various compensation programs
- Respond to inquiries and resolve discrepancies efficiently regarding payroll issues or concerns, including direct deposits, payroll deductions, garnishments, and tax issues
- Partner with Finance to align payroll with financial reporting and reconciliations on weekly and month end basis
- Navigate various HRIS systems, with new and update of data entries ensuring accuracy and timeliness of associate data
- Lead payroll audits and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Maintain accurate payroll records and record retention
- Manage retirement plan contributions and employment verifications
- As part of HR Team, contribute to various support functions
To thrive in this role, you must...
- Be the subject matter expert and ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll processes compensation programs and systems
- Understand how to track and calculate pay, incentive payments, PTO accruals
- Be able to think critically, exercise systematic thinking, and identify payroll discrepancies or process inefficiencies proactively
- Have experience in payroll or compensation management and a degree in HR or Accounting fields is preferred
- Be able to utilize Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Have strong communication (written, verbal, interpersonal) with all levels of associates
- Possess self-driven work habits, organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Familiarity Dayforce systems is a plus
