Job Title : Nursing Coordinator

Job Description / Summary

The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of daily nursing activities that support integrated care. This leader works directly with the Medical Director, carrying out updates and changes to agency policy that consistently improve the quality of the client experience. The Nursing Coordinator collaborates with treatment teams across the agency to drive integrated care delivery and promote clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Implements efficient and effective standard medical workflows and procedures on behalf of the Medical Director.
  • Provides medical consultation to direct care teams, ensuring the coordination and integration of physical health screening and monitoring to support whole health care.
  • Provides administrative oversight of nursing services and directly supervises the certified medical assistants (CMAs) by assigning and overseeing daily tasks.
  • Arranges direct and in-direct training and education to PBHG staff on medical procedures including Narcan delivery, medical emergency management, infectious diseases, and general infection control practices.
  • Arranges Hepatitis C and HIV testing with community partners, as well as metabolic screening in partial care programs.
  • Acts as the agency liaison for laboratory services offered on site and manages the lab interface in the electronic record with the support of IT.
  • Reviews the quality of services and documentation by ensuring labs are completed and reviewed / signed by ordering prescribers and addressing barriers.
  • Works directly with the Integrated Care Process Improvement Coordinator to ensure medical staff complete Administrative Alerts, Unusual Incident Reports, Medication Errors, Exposure Reports, and all other Quality & Compliance reports according to PBHG policy.
  • Reviews the medication storage, destruction, and sample distribution process quarterly at multiple sites.
  • Provides direct client care including injections as needed.
  • Provides direct supervision of workflows related to medical services in compliance with agency policy and best practices.
  • Recruits new medical talent as needed with HR, conducts interviews, and arranges hiring.
  • Orients new medical staff including prescribers and support staff.
  • Trains medical assistants to provide injections as needed.
  • Responsible directly or indirectly for Infection Control related duties :
  • Recommends policy and procedure updates in response to changes in standards, regulations, current industry best practices for infection control.
  • Performs Quarterly Food Sanitation and Preparation Form inspections at all Partial Care Programs.
  • Provides training to group home staff as needed (i.e. oxygen administration, glucose monitoring, bp monitoring, etc.)
  • Audits group home medication boxes / eMAR quarterly.
  • Supports planning and budgeting for nursing services in conjunction with Medical Director and the Quality and Compliance Department.
  • Responds to medical emergencies on Airport Road.
  • Manages Stericycle- ordering supplies & ensuring regular pick up of waste.
  • Maintains inventory and orders medical equipment & supplies as needed.
  • Available to provide in-service training to program staff as needed.
  • Participates in accreditation and regulatory site visits as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities : Certified Medical Assistants, LPN’s

Qualifications

  • Education : Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure : Registered professional nurse (RN) currently licensed in New Jersey.
  • Experience : Minimum of six months full-time experience, or the full-time equivalent, in nursing supervision or nursing administration in the management of addictions in a licensed substance use disorder treatment facility
  • Competencies :

  • Maintain CPR / First Aid. Must be America Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with technology needed to perform all job functions including but not limited to Microsoft Office, EHR, Dr. First and Labcorp.
  • Perform job responsibilities with a minimum of supervision from Medical Director and / or Vice President(s).
  • Pre- and Post-Employment Screening / Testing / Examinations :

  • Criminal history check, supported by fingerprinting, prior to employment.
  • Drug screening prior to employment and in accordance with PBHG policy and procedure.
  • Physical exam prior to start date, and every three years thereafter.
  • Mantoux / TB testing prior to start date.
